S & C

There's something so sweet about a summer backyard wedding. The nostalgia & familiarity, the open air & sunlight, and the deep-rooted story it tells. Whether you're planning your own backyard wedding or simply looking for inspiration, this S & C’s wedding was the perfect blend of intentionality and elegance.

A Setting That Feels Like Home

One of the most beautiful aspects of a backyard wedding is the familiarity and warmth it brings. As a wedding photographer & videographer striving to capture the nostalgia of the day, I love when a couple feels comfortable and completely themselves in a space. This brings a sense of peace over the day. It creates natural moments.

This couple chose to say their vows in the open field near the groom’s childhood home. To make this place even more intimate, this is where the groom proposed to nearly a year earlier. Every moment of this day felt intimate and cozy and filled with love - both from the spaces and the people who filled those spaces. On the top of a hill overlooking a valley, the ceremony space felt effortlessly romantic and remote - and beyond meaningful to the couple.

It's About Who You Share It With

Guests arrived by golf carts, flower girls brought the sweet laughter, family reunited, friends gathered from near and far, and joy truly filled every corner of the day. S & C are wrapped in a community of love and support—something that was evident in every moment of their wedding.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story.

From vintage blankets for cozy seating to hand-written signs filled with sentiment, every detail reflected their love. Thoughtful touches—like blankets, tents, and fans—ensured guests felt as cherished as the couple themselves.

Why Opt for a Backyard Wedding?

Backyard weddings are perfect to show personality, romance, and flexibility. They allow couples to create a wedding day that is uniquely theirs—without the constraints of traditional venues. Whether you’re envisioning an intimate elopement or a lively summer celebration, a backyard wedding offers endless possibilities for creativity and charm – and $ savings!

One of the biggest perks of a backyard wedding is the flexibility it offers—not just in how you design the day but also in how you allocate your budget. Without the constraints of a traditional venue, you have the freedom to invest in the elements that matter most to you, whether that's stunning floral arrangements, a live band, or a photographer who truly matches your aesthetic & values.

At the same time, a backyard wedding creates a unique, deeply personal atmosphere that simply can’t be replicated. The setting—whether it's a childhood home, a family estate, or a beautiful open field—holds sentimental value, making every moment feel more intimate and meaningful. Plus, the personal touches, like vintage furniture, hand-lettered signs, or cozy lounge areas, elevate the experience and create the kind of editorial, nostalgic, and documentary-style images that truly stand out.

By choosing a backyard wedding, you’re crafting a day that feels uniquely you and results in breathtaking photos that tell a story no one else can replicate.

If you're planning a backyard wedding and looking for a photographer to capture all the heartfelt moments, I'd love to be a part of your day! Let's create something beautiful together. You have a story to tell, my friend!
